Becoming a WorldHost Trainer

Yavhel Velazquez

Yavhel oversees the day-to-day operations for the team. Key responsibilities are strategic direction and planning, public relations, and marketing. He enjoys visiting with the various partners involved with WorldHost Training Services.  He joined the team in 2007, moving from Ottawa where he was previously Manager of Training and Development with the Canadian Tourism Human Resources Council. He is a certified Excellence Professional with the National Quality Institute of Canada and has an Honours Degree in Leisure Studies and Public Management from the University of Ottawa. 

Rhonda Teel

Rhonda has been a part of the WorldHost team since 2005.  Her diverse background includes working in law, radio broadcasting, telecommunications, human resources and tourism.  Rhonda has a a communications certificate from BCIT - something that comes in very handy as the coordinator for the delivery network.  Rhonda's position varies from organizing the Train-the-Trainer workshops, assisting  with WorldHost workshop materials and she is the main liaison with the coordinators for the delivery network.  She brings an enthusiastic and positive approach to every aspect of her position.  She is usually the first contact for prospective delivery organization licensees or facilitators.  Rhonda is happy to be of service!

Holly Frederickson

Holly’s first delivery of a SuperHost (now WorldHost) Fundamentals workshop in 1994 was with Commonwealth Games volunteers in Victoria as a community trainer.  Recruited to join WorldHost Training Services as a Master Trainer in 1998, she draws from a solid background in customer service, primarily telecommunications.  She has a Certificate of Adult Continuing Education and a Business Diploma in Marketing. 

Holly co-authored the Sales Powered By Service and Solving Problems Through Service workshops and various workshops customized for Corporate clients.  Most recently she delivered “Team 2010 Training” Train-the-Trainer sessions to industry partners in association with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.  

Holly believes learning is best when it's participatory and fun - and that's exactly the learning environment she creates!  She is a positive and supportive coach and mentor for our trainers.

Suzanne Carter

For the past fifteen years Suzanne has combined her education in adult learning and tourism, love for British Columbia and passion for facilitation and training into a successful career based on educating others through her experiences.  Certified as a Tourism Trainer through the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, Suzanne is a perfect fit with WorldHost and their clients.

Suzanne has earned a reputation for developing and delivering interactive, dynamic, and results-oriented training for businesses throughout British Columbia. Since 1999 I have been working in partnership with The Consulting Edge, as an independent corporate facilitative training consultant, my focus is to assist businesses with employee training, from the front line to upper-management.

Her success as a facilitator and trainer can be attributed to a professional philosophy that “learning is very much a personal endeavour: Sometimes I serve as an authority and sometimes as a facilitator but I always serve as a partner in the learning process”.  Suzanne has delivered numerous presentations at provincial and international conferences

 

Tricia Gerth

Tricia trains front-line staff throughout the Lower Mainland via her business, Quantum Consulting. She enjoys taking an interactive approach to facilitation and seeks to draw participants into each session - making her a perfect match for WorldHost training! She believes that engaging, relevant training will energise, challenge and equip people.

Self-employed since 1992, Tricia has first-hand knowledge of the value of serving clients. She relies on maintaining positive working relationships since the majority of her business contracts are referrals or network associates. Tricia's formal education background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Psychology as well as various instructors' certificates.

She has delivered WorldHost workshops since 1999 and became a Master Trainer in 2006 for Fundamentals and the Solutions Series workshops.

 

Jenni Hopkyns

Jenni is a trainer and facilitator with over 20 years of experience, and is an active member of Toastmasters International. She is a former educator and a Vice Principal in the Edmonton Public School system.

Jenni co-authored and project-managed five WorldHost workshops including Customers with Disabilities, Service Across Cultures, Frontline Management Solutions and The Solutions Series (Sales Powered By Service & Solving Problems Through Service).

Jenni brings an abundance of creativity and fun to her workshops. She has a true flair for involving learners and her energy level is incredible! As a WorldHost team leader, she is a positive customer service role-model for all our trainers.

 

Ursula Pfahler

Ursula Pfahler has been a SuperHost/WorldHost trainer since 1999 and loves the interactive and hands-on approach of the program.

An adult educator in Canada and internationally for more than 20 years, Ursula has instructed learners from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds. She has co-authored new workshops and audiovisual material and worked with corporate clients and stakeholder groups on customizing workshop content and delivery to fit each organization’s specific needs.

Her ongoing involvement with the tourism industry though her consulting business Poda Communications ensures that Ursula continues to hone her own customer service skills and that she can relate to participants' experiences and concerns.

Ursula believes in providing a supportive learning environment. Workshop participants enjoy her gentle sense of humour, professional manner and ability to create a casual, relaxed atmosphere.
